Privacy Policy

1 Information We Collect

GeoPrints collects the following categories of data — all stored locally on your device only, never transmitted:

• GPS Location Data: Continuous latitude/longitude coordinates, timestamps, speed, and accuracy readings to build your movement timeline.
• Stay Point Data: Calculated stay events (clusters of stationary GPS points) with arrival/departure times and geographic coordinates.
• Physical Activity States: Detected motion categories (Walking, Running, Cycling, In-Vehicle, Stationary) paired with timestamps.
• Photo EXIF Metadata: GPS coordinates and capture timestamps extracted from images in your local gallery to enable photo-location matching. Photos themselves are never copied, moved, or uploaded.
• User-Assigned Labels: Custom semantic labels you assign to frequent places (e.g., "Home", "Office").
• App Settings: Your configuration preferences stored locally (tracking on/off, precision mode, etc.).

2 Background Location Access

GeoPrints requires continuous background location access (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION) to function as an automated travelogue.

• Purpose: To track your physical stays and movement trajectories throughout the day, enabling the app to build your daily timeline and life analytics without requiring manual input.
• Storage: All tracked GPS coordinates are stored solely in the on-device encrypted database. This data is never transmitted externally.
• User Control: You can disable background tracking at any time via the Settings & Vault screen or your Android system settings.

3 Physical Activity Recognition

We request the physical activity recognition permission (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION).

• Purpose: To detect your motion state (walking, running, cycling, in-vehicle) in order to accurately categorize movement segments and optimize battery consumption.
• Storage: Activity states are logged locally alongside GPS data and are never shared with any third party.

4 Photo Gallery Access & EXIF Metadata

GeoPrints requests media/storage permissions (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) to access your local photo library.

• Purpose: The app performs local EXIF metadata scanning to extract GPS coordinates and timestamps from your photos, matching them to your visited locations to create a visual travelogue diary.
• Zero Uploads: This processing is 100% local. Your photos and their metadata are never uploaded, transmitted, cached externally, or shared with any third party.
• No Copies Made: GeoPrints reads EXIF data only. It does not copy, move, rename, or duplicate any photo files.

5 Data Storage & Encryption

All data collected by GeoPrints is stored in a local Isar NoSQL database encrypted with AES-256 encryption on your device. This includes:

• Location points and stay points
• Activity recognition logs
• Semantic place labels
• Offline map tile cache

No encryption keys are stored remotely. No data replication occurs. The data exists only on the device where GeoPrints is installed.

6 Data Retention & Your Right to Delete

You have full, unilateral control over your data at all times.

• Auto-Delete: You may configure GeoPrints to automatically purge location logs older than 30 days via the Settings & Vault screen.
• Manual Purge: You can permanently delete all encrypted location logs, timelines, semantic labels, and cached map data at any time using "Purge Vault Data" in the Settings & Vault screen.
• Irreversibility: Deletion is instant and permanent. There is no recovery, backup, or cloud copy — because none exists.

7 No Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your data with:

• Third-party analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics)
• Advertisers or ad networks
• Data brokers or data aggregators
• Government entities or law enforcement (we have no data to provide)
• Any other organization, partner, or individual

8 No Remote Servers or Cloud Services

GeoPrints has no backend infrastructure. There is no GeoPrints server, no cloud database, no API endpoint, and no data synchronization service. The app communicates with the internet only to download map tiles from OpenStreetMap's public tile servers — no user data is included in these requests.

9 Children's Privacy

GeoPrints is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since all data is stored locally and no account is required, there is no mechanism for a child's data to reach our possession.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the GeoPrints application following any updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
